The image above is of the imposing, 17' high, bronze monument, at Spean Bridge in Scotland, which pays tribute to the Commando soldiers who trained in this area of the Highlands (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commando_Memorial).

Initially at Iverailort House, and later at Achnacarry Castle, this wild and demanding landscape was home, first to the original Army Commandos, and then to the United States' Rangers and Royal Marines Commandos who followed in their footsteps Above left and left are the memorials to the Commandos and to Combined Operations Command, which are to be found in the extensive National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas in Staffordshire,close to the M6 Toll Road.
